Early Morning, France
Pastel over oils, 1982
Early Morning, France
I was impressed with the
quietness of the morning in this
small town called Auti Savory. I
captured the little old lady quickly
and the dog then worked the
colorful houses around them
A Morning Stroll, Italy
Oil, 1980
Narrative
From Maria Raffaele-Vergori
Was done in a very old small
town in Piedmont Italy. It is
high on the mountains and
there are many twisting roads
and steps, no cars are
allowed. I found it to be very
captivating.
Beggar in Bologna, Italy
Oil, 1984
In the heart of Bologna on a busy
street sat this beggar. After
conversing with him he allowed me
to sketch him on the spot. It was
done quickly and after giving him
some shillings we were both happy.
Pear Tree in Spring, Oregon
Oil, 1991
I saw the beautiful blossoms
of the
pear tree and the surrounding
gave me the inspiration to
paint it.
Overlooking the Arno River, Italy
Was a drawing I did from the top deck
of the Pensione where I stayed. The
view to me was beautiful from there,
and I walked along the Arno River
every day to school and admired it. It
was a nice feeling to be able to
capture the composition.
Uffici Palace in Firenze, Italy
Pen and ink, 1972
On one of my return trips to
Italy I went to the Uffizzi
Palace where visited often to
see so many great paintings
of the masters. One day I
had the urge to sketch it and
took advantage of it.
